Bushfires, Moustaches & Cheeky Chops
It is starting to dry off quickly with some high temperatures and hot winds. Norm is the vice captain of the Spicers Creek volunteer bushfire brigade. He went to his first fire of the season yesterday – a suspicious fire on the outskirts of town this side of the Macquarie River - luckily all under control and not much damage. We are so grateful to have our to all our volunteer fire members, protecting our community.
We are reaching the end of Movember - this year a group of 25 friends banded together in memory of their brother, friend and good mate, Sandy Kiss, who took his own life just on 20 years ago. Sandy was a wonderful son, brother and friend to many. Their target was to raise $3,000 for men’s Mental Health - they smashed their target Merv Hughes style raising over $28,000! I'm proud as punch but secretly glad the caterpillar is gone from Norm's upper lip!
Chops, our pet sheep, has been banished to the paddock outside the garden as my pot plants are suffering. She comes back in at night to sleep. Chops has been raised by our pet dogs - Rolled Oats, Jess and Sal – and acts just as they do. Last week I actually came out of the shower to find her in my bedroom at the other end of the house!
